“When is Menards going to open?” asks a reader. “No word. Thank you,” emails “Ray” from the company in response to our email inquiry.
The Wisconsin-based chain has been distributing ad fliers locally since last year, and its new store on Jackson Rd. has looked ready to open its doors for months. We put our reader’s question to Spaulding Clark, Scio Township supervisor.
“You asked a question that many have asked me,” Clark replies. “To the best of my knowledge there is no problem” on the county or township end. As of early May, Clark says, the company had yet to schedule the final inspections required before the store can open. “They do business on their own time,” Clark says. “My guess is that this is an internal issue” in the family-owned chain.
