The Little Seedling, home to baby gear, clothing, toys, and gifts, has moved from Boulevard Plaza to Westgate shopping center.

The shop, which takes the longtime Learning Express spot, began as Tree City Diapers in owner Molly Ging’s basement, selling traditional cloth diapers.

In 2008, it went brick-and-mortar in a location on Zeeb, with a much bigger lineup of baby goods, then landed a spot near the Goldfish Swim School behind Ace Barnes Hardware (Observer, May 2014).

The main reason for the move? “Foot traffic,” Ging says. “We’ve been in business for eighteen years now and never been in a high-traffic, walk-up traffic area.”

At 4,000 square feet, though, the new space is about 2,500 square feet smaller than her last location. That “will change the way we stock products and order products,” Ging says.

For now, she’s temporarily eliminated baby furniture. “We’re going to give us six months to find out what people want us to have here. Will they want more toys? Will they want more baby stuff? We’ll follow what people tell us.”

Given her multiple moves through the years, has her car taken her to the wrong location? “Actually, no, surprisingly,” she laughs, “Really, I feel like I’ve very quickly settled into Westgate.”
