In March 2016 we reported that Joseph Kafi, who owns the Shell station at State and Eisenhower, would be renting space to a Mediterranean restaurant to be called Phoenician Thyme. It finally opened this April, as Pita Pan.

It offers a selection of pita wraps, kabobs, and other Mediterranean classics. Though the restaurant has its own entrance and sign, seating is limited to a few chairs at a countertop, so the business model is based around delivery and takeout. Joining fellow gas station lessee the Little Store Too (Marketplace Changes, July), Pita Pan also offers delivery through Grubhub, potentially skirting whatever biases customers may have about gas station food.

Pita Pan, 263-2112, 2993 S. State.
