Arbor Day just came and went, but this legend stands tall year-round. Meet Ann Arbor’s Champion American Elm on Crest Ave. between Lutz and Elder. 120+ years old, 170 inches around, and 105 feet skyward. They don’t call us Tree Town for nothin’. (Got a tree worth bragging about? Nominate it at a2gov.org/forestry/ann-arbor-champion-trees.)

Editor’s note: The April 14 tornado took out a number of Ann Arbor’s lovely trees, but this one escaped unscathed.
