The Old Siam by Siam Kitchen was about to close as the Observer went to press.

Ann Arbor’s first Thai restaurant opened in Westgate in 1981. The Dhitirojana family’s aim was to offer local diners authentic versions of Thai home cooking.

As with many food places, Covid-19 caused numerous headaches for the little restaurant, most recently run by Nat Dhitirojana. Although it survived through carryout, it had recently adjusted its hours and was closed some days.

In a Facebook post, the restaurant thanked its customers “for all your support through these rough times.” Dhitirojana says he doesn’t know what his next move will be.
