We received 100 entries to our little contest in October. Of those, ninety-nine correctly identified the Fake Ad for the Biergarten on p. 89. It’s been awhile since middle school math class, but that sounds like 99 percent correct. The Oktoberfest Biergarten at Epcot in Disneyworld has long been the Fake Ad Czar’s favorite place in the “Happiest Place on Earth,” so the ad holds special significance for me.

It sounds like I’m not alone in that regard. “It was disappointing that it was Fake,” wrote Colleen van Lent. “That is the kind of place that would convince my dad to come for a visit.”

“The Biergarten sounds like a good place for Octoberfest,” wrote Andrew L. Weber (how does he find the time to enter while writing all those Broadway shows?). “But alas the ad was for a fake bar.”

Jeff Stanzler was chosen as our winner. He’s taking his $25 gift certificate to the Grange Kitchen & Bar.

To enter and win your own gift certificate to an advertiser of your choice, find the unreal ad in this month’s issue and enter using the instructions at the bottom of the “Back Page.” The Fake Ad always contains the clue “arborweb”–in October, it was hidden within the Biergarten’s address.
