An observant reader noticed the closed sign on Manna International Food & Gifts at the foot of Broadway. An early November post on Yelp indicated that the store was closing for good. At that time, most of the inventory was discounted up to 40 percent.
The Observer archives have notes about the store dating back to the early 1980s; in a Yelp comment dating to 2014, “Dug S.” called it his favorite Korean market in Ann Arbor. Other Yelpers, however, thought that service grew less friendly after a sale around that time.
Kay Yourist, whose pottery studio is nearby, says the lease was up. The owners could not be reached for comment.
