“Great choice!” writes Sheryl Szady of June’s feature. “This beautiful sculpture sits by the Michigan League building.” It’s “near the Mendelssohn Theatre entrance,” adds Vicki Kondelik. “‘Quartet’ by Jens Zorn,” writes Amy Barnett, was “donated in 2017 by the FWC (Faculty Women’s Club of the University of Michigan—now going by the initials since club is open to all genders).” Designed by physics prof Jens Zorn, says Barb Tester, it was fabricated “by the very skilled technician Joshua Blackmon of the university’s Sheet Metal Shop.” “Quartet” was donated in honor of women on campus and the FWC during the university’s bicentennial celebration.
“Nice work with the Top of the Park reference for the month of June,” say Joe Cialdella and Kate Silbert, referring to the clue. It’s located “basically in-between the old ‘Top of the Park’ Summer Festival location and the current Ingalls Mall location,” writes Bob DeBona. Daniel Coughlin “stumbled upon” the sculpture at TOP’s opening night.
We received nineteen entries in June, all correct. Our random drawing winner, Sheryl Szady, will enjoy her $25 gift certificate at Zingerman’s.
