Michigan football is steeped in tradition. We have the winged helmet, the M Club Banner, “The Victors,” Varsity, and a pregame band ritual that’s remained more or less unchanged since the days of Fielding Yost. A great part of that tradition was started by Steve Filipiak, the Big House PA announcer from 1950 to 1971.
