This 80-acre wood surrounding Third Sister Lake, a field research site for U-M’s School for Environment and Sustainability, consists of several forest plantations dating back to 1904. Use of the lake is not permitted, but the path around it is a favorite for walking leashed dogs, jogging, and cross-country skiing. Open to the public dawn to dusk; parking available at 2|42 Church on Wagner. Visitors use this property at their own risk and must adhere to posted rules.
