Current programs include:
Foster Grandparent Program (734–544–3040), offering opportunities for income-eligible seniors age 55 and older to volunteer with children in a community/educational setting and receive a financial stipend. Fill out an interest form at washtenaw.org/fgp
Barrier Busters (734–544–3006), giving members access to monthly meetings, a listserv with job postings and community program updates, an online emergency assistance request system, and more. Visit washtenaw.org/609/become-a-barrier-buster to sign up for an orientation to become a member.
Washtenaw County Winter Warming Centers (734–961–1999), providing emergency shelter for unhoused individuals during the winter months.
Meals on Wheels and Senior Cafes, providing meals to seniors. Meals on Wheels provides home-delivered meals to seniors who cannot leave their homes and prepare food. Senior Cafes are held in senior centers or churches and give seniors the opportunity to receive meals and meet other seniors. washtenaw.org/796/senior-nutrition-program
Home Owner Education Program, providing potential homebuyers information on topics including finding the right home and financing a home. washtenaw.org/738/homeownership-education
Housing Weatherization and Rehabilitation (734–544–3008), lowering eligible residents’ utility bills by providing free weatherization services, and bringing eligible property owners’ dwellings into compliance with housing standards (including through roof replacement and emergency repairs). washtenaw.org/2923/home-improvement-programs
