TheRide provides public transportation to the greater Ann Arbor – Ypsilanti area. All of TheRide’s buses are accessible to persons with disabilities. Each is equipped with a ramp and accommodates 2 wheelchair users; there is also a bike rack in front that can carry 2 bicycles. Customer service window open Mon.-Fri. 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m., Sat. noon-5:30 p.m. Lobby open Mon.-Fri. 6 a.m.-12:00 a.m., Sat. 8 a.m.-11:00 p.m. and Sun. 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. The central boarding point in Ypsilanti is the Ypsilanti Transit Center, 220 Pearl St. Lobby open Mon. – Fri. 6 a.m. – 11:15 p.m., Saturday, 7 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. and Sun. 8 a.m. – 6:45 p.m. For MyAlerts for changes to TheRide bus service, and detours/delays, sign up at theride.org. Fare is $1.50 for fixed-route bus service. Transfers are free and valid for 90 minutes. Students in grades K-12 ride for $.75. Children age 5 & under ride free.

The MRide program allows U-M faculty, staff, and students with a valid yellow MCard to ride regularly scheduled buses at no charge.

Thirty-day unlimited-ride passes ($58, $29 for K-12 students and Fare Deal cardholders) can be purchased online, at the Blake Transit Center, TheRide’s main office, Michigan Union, and these Bank of Ann Arbor locations: 125 S. Fifth, Traver Village on Plymouth, 801 W. Ellsworth, 2240 W. Stadium, and 7 W. Michigan in Ypsilanti.

Fare Deal cards are for people ages 60-64, people with a Medicare or Medicaid card, or certification through an authorized agency. Fare Deal cardholders ride for $.75. GoldRide cards are for people age 65 & older and allow the card holder to ride fixed-routes free of charge. Free Park & Ride lots are at Plymouth and U.S. 23, Green near Baxter, Pioneer High School, Miller at M-14, and State north of Eisenhower, State, and Pearl in Ypsilanti (which requires a free-to-obtain hang-tag). From these lots, buses run downtown and to U-M campuses. Shared-use Park & Ride spaces can be found at Meijer (3825 Carpenter, Ypsilanti), and the Washtenaw County Service Center (4125 Washtenaw, Ann Arbor).

A-Ride: This is a shared-ride service and is available for people who are eligible under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and whose disability prevents them from riding the regular fixed route buses. Service is provided in lift equipped vehicles. A-Ride card holders can also ride fixed-routes service at no cost.

GroceryRide: (734) 973-6500. Provides weekly group trips, $.75 each way, to grocery stores from select senior housing complexes in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Free Park & Ride lots are at Plymouth and U.S. 23, Green near Baxter, Pioneer High School, Miller at M-14, and State north of Eisenhower, and Pearl in Ypsilanti (which requires a free-to-obtain hang-tag).
