Enchanted Oven has returned to Saline, offering sourdough breads and lunch options in addition to à la carte and custom cakes, cookies, and other sweets.
Amber Wardia closed her small shop on N. Ann Arbor St. in 2023 but is now back in a cozy space behind Speedway, complete with parking and a fresh pink facade.
“A lot of people were telling us that they missed us. We had a very warm welcome,” she says. In the interim, she opened a bakery/café in Salem Twp. and added a production facility at the former hospital on Russell St. that’s now EHM Senior Solutions.

Eager to resume retail operations in town, Wardia struggled to find a suitable space until noticing that One Stop Soul Shop had vacated longtime barber Jon Snook’s former shop on S. Harris. She inquired by posting a note on the door. “I got the phone call either same day or the next morning, and we just signed the lease right on the spot,” she says.
Her daughter, U-M art student Lydia Breese, manages this outpost, which has gradually added hours to meet demand. Prepackaged salads and sandwiches come from the café, while loaves of sourdough, cherry-walnut bread, and rye have proven popular. “We can hardly keep them in stock,” Wardia says.
She wants the Saline community to know “how appreciative that we really, really, really, truly are that we’re given a second chance. It means everything to us.”
