Jabal Coffee House has opened a franchise at the busy corner of E. Huron and N. Division, becoming the area’s seventh entrant into the bustling business of Yemeni coffee and tea shops.

It’s their fourth location, with fifteen more expected to open this year, according to their website. Brothers Gamal and Saqr Waza founded the Dearborn-based company in 2023.
The chic remake of the former Ahmo’s Gyros & Deli location features light, neutral furnishings accented with a golden shine, along with a separate glass-walled room. Traditional drinks such as Adeni tea and the creamy, aromatic mofawar coffee start at $4.50 but can be ordered by the pot as well. There’s also an espresso bar, refreshers, fraps, matcha, and temptingly decadent pastry and dessert case.
Various efforts to reach out for an interview proved for naught.
The location includes a few parking spaces, though not enough to meet the considerable demand already in evidence. The Issa family, whose interests include Ahmo’s and a property management firm sharing the site, still owns the building. Ahmo’s, which once had as many as seven locations, is down to just one, at Stone School Rd. and Ellsworth, while it prepares to open in another Issa building at 215 S. State.
