In December, Susann and Bobby Thrasher converted their Werkner Rd. garage into the Country Cabin, a holiday and home decor store with a “primitive and country style.” Susann, who was a stay-at-home mom to her four kids–now all grown–says while most people her age are preparing to retire, “it’s my time” to start a new chapter. Her daughter, Megann, helps with the retail side of the business, and her sons assisted Bobby with renovations.
Among her best-selling items are homemade crafts she creates with two friends, Michigan-made candles with her logo, colorful tin hanging star luminaries she purchased in Mexico, and holiday-themed merchandise. Bobby, a longtime production manager for Billy Joel, is also a woodworker; they sell his handcrafted dressers, tables, and hutches.
