Urban Green Infrastructure and Sustainability: for Who, for What, and How?: U-M Center for Sustainable Systems & U-M Sustainable Food Systems Initiative

    Oct. 29 at 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
    More

Dana Building Room 1024, 440 Church St, Ann Arbor

Green spaces are praised for doing many things at once, but without intention, win-wins aren’t guaranteed. Indigenous food sovereignty is limited by land ownership and past contamination; green spaces may not keep pace with flooding, and even compost-based urban farms can leak nutrients into waterways.

Translating research into management strategies isn’t enough. How can community partnership, living labs, and art bridge the gap between current knowledge and uncertain futures?

Join visiting scholar Genevieve Metson, Associate Professor in the Department of Geography & Environment at Western University, Canada, in this discussion. Lunch will be provided.
