“I feel like this is the final piece Kerrytown needs to be the most well-rounded market in Ann Arbor,” says Mackenzie Schuch of her new men’s store, Iron+Oak Haberdashery.
Now twenty-three, Schuch launched her consignment boutique, Nuuyuu Collective, two years ago just down the second-floor hall of the indoor mall. Its booths are booked out through May.

“The number one question we got was ‘do you have men’s stuff?’” she says. “With Nuuyuu it’s hit or miss, because men do wear their clothes a little hard, so not many secondhand men’s clothes come through.”
Her older sister, Angeline Pratt, “taught me everything there is to know about retail business and finding good products,” she says. Pratt’s Bohmey Beauty boutique had occupied the space; she’s now focusing on her Traverse City shop and online sales. Overlooking the mall’s east staircase, the store hosts the overhead cords connecting the Kerrytown Chime’s operating levers to the seventeen bells in the tower.
Schuch, along with her fiancé, Dillon Fagan, a construction project manager, remade the interior with hunter green walls, sturdy metal fixtures, and wood-grained laminate suitable for the vintage building’s warped floor. The branding was intended to evoke durability, “nothing kitschy, nothing cringy,” she says.
Schuch and Fagan, together since college at EMU, are collaborating on the masculine mix of merchandise, focusing on quality fabrics over fast fashion for loungewear and casual pieces. Leather wallets and belts, aviator sunglasses, Michigan-made jerky, cocktail infusion kits, and travel-friendly solid colognes are among the growing product lines they’re curating.
“It was realistically what would men actually use and come in and be interested in,” Schuch explains. “But from my perspective, it’s also ‘what can we gift men?’ Because that’s been a struggle my whole life.”
