“Spin Centennial: Celebrating 100 Years of Spin at the University of Michigan”: U-M Physics Department
Series of short talks by U-M physics professors on the history of the concept of electron spin, and its applications in quantum mechanics and nuclear physics. Electron spin was first postulated in a 1925 publication by Dutch physicists George Uhlenbeck & Samuel Goudsmit, who a year later joined the faculty of the U-M physics department. 3–5 p.m., 340 West Hall, 1085 S.
