Feras and Nariman Al Shobaki have expanded the hookah selection at their Mediterranean Market into a new storefront a couple doors down in Stone Plaza. Though Inhale Smoke Shop opened in October, manager Mariam Omar says they are still working on bringing in more merchandise for a springtime grand opening.
The store’s shelves are lined with hookahs and tobacco. Omar tells us they have over 100 different hookahs imported from Egypt and forty-five flavors of tobacco that they import from Jordan.
The shop also carries E-cigarettes and “vape” juice flavors, glass pipes, and a surprisingly small selection of cigarettes–though it “sounds kind of crazy” for a smoke shop, Omar admits, it’s not their main focus.
When asked if they have a “usual customer,” Omar says excitedly, “It’s such a range in age and such a range in ethnicity! We have everyone. That’s kind of Ann Arbor for you. It’s a little melting pot.”
