Ann Arborites know the alcohol flows freely at undergrad hot spot Good Time Charley’s-so freely that the South U establishment ran up the biggest booze tab in the city last year. According to the records of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission, Charley’s purchased $303,391.36 of alcohol under its Class C liquor license in 2014. That’s a whopping $60,000 ahead of the second-place buyer, the Last Word on W. Huron, which shelled out $240,920.17 for libations last year. Third place goes to Knight’s Steakhouse on Dexter-no surprise to anyone who’s ever sampled one of the establishment’s notorious cocktails.

Manager Lizzie Kendrick says Knight’s mainly buys vodka and gin. “We don’t really have any frou-frou drinks or anything like that,” Kendrick says. “It’s vodka martinis, Manhattans, old-fashioneds–you know, strong drinks.”
