Sept. 29: “Viewfinder: Documentaries about Dabls in Detroit” (Julia Yezbick, 2016; Brittin Richter & Nikki Sass, 2014). Screening of two documentary films about the work of visionary Detroit artist Olayami Dabls, founder of the African Bead Museum, including Yezbick’s How to Rust and Richter & Sass’s N’Kisi Concorde. Followed by a panel discussion and Q&A featuring the filmmakers, moderated by Ann Arbor Film Festival executive director Leslie Raymond and Amanda Krugliak, curator of a U-M Institute for the Humanities exhibit of Dabls’ work this month (see Galleries).
