Though there are many newer homes in the area, the city has managed to maintain its small-town feel. The city has small postwar Cape Cods that serve as affordable starter homes, newer ranches, and historic showpieces. Subdivisions within the city limits include Dexter Crossing, Huron Farms, and Westridge. The construction of 16-unit Arlington Woods is completed. Old and new subdivisions, many with 1-acre and larger lots, are in the townships surrounding the city.
