Only 139 clever Fake Adders correctly identified last month’s Fake Ad for Stadium Oldsmobile. The previous month’s winner’s last name, Brown, was included in Spanish, as the first name of pop singer Bruno Mars. We find it both alarming and somehow reassuring that many of you claimed not to know who Bruno Mars is.
“The October Fake Ad is on page 66, top left, for ‘Stadium’ car seller,” wrote Ann Whiting. She spotted it because “for starters, no ‘North’ Stadium Blvd. exists. Also, no phone number is given … Interesting follow-up to last month’s Fake Ad with its color last name (Green) featured in Spanish. Wonder if the next winner’s last name will be Blue, Black, Rose, or White? (Or Whiting? Hint, hint.)” Whiting also caught that 1985, the year our “dealership” was established, was Bruno Mars’ birth year.
Michael Jacobitz took note of the outdated lineup of cars the dealership offered. “The October Fake Ad is for Stadium Oldsmobile Pontiac Plymouth Mercury Saturn and appears on page 66,” he wrote. “I see they will soon be adding Dodge. Will Studebaker and Hudson be in the model line-up as well?”
