“Top of the Park”: Ann Arbor Summer Festival

See 13 Friday. Tonight in the KidZone: kids activities (5 p.m.) led by Washtenaw Intermediate School District staff in support of the My Future Fund college savings program. In the Annex Tent: a printmaking workshop (5 p.m.) led by Ann Arbor District Library staff. On the Power Center Lawn: Tai Chi exercises (5:30 p.m.) led by members of the Ann-Hua Chinese School. On the O&W Grove Stage: “Center Stage Strings” (5 p.m.), a program of 8th-century to contemporary chamber music by students attending a U-M music school summer program. On the Rackham Stage: traditional Indian Dhol-Tasha processional percussion music by ShivShardul Percussions (6 p.m.), Flint-born Syrian American hip-hop rapper Mona Haydar (6:45 p.m.), and the Urban Art Orchestra (8 p.m.), a Detroit-based hip-hop-inflected contemporary classical ensemble led by acclaimed composer-arranger De’Sean Jones. The music is followed at 9:30 p.m. by a screening of The Goonies, Richard Donner’s old-fashioned 1985 adventure yarn about a group of kids searching for hidden treasure. 5–11 p.m.
