“The Marriage of Figaro”: U-M Voice & Opera Department

November 6–9. U-M opera students, accompanied by the University Symphony Orchestra, perform Mozart’s popular opera buffa (a comic opera) noted for its stirring, lovely melodies. Bored by his wife, Count Almaviva eyes her maid Susanna, who is engaged to his valet Figaro. When the count decides to exercise his feudal rights, he sends Figaro, Susanna, and others into frenzied attempts to thwart his lecherous scheme. Sung in Italian, English supertitles. 7:30 p.m. (Thurs.), 8 p.m. (Fri. & Sat.), and 2 p.m. (Sun.), Power Center. Tickets $29–$35 (students, $16) in advance at smtd.umich.edu & at the door.
