Now in its 20th year, this popular gigantic public art parade up and down Main St. features magnificent, huge, bizarre papier-mâché puppets that range from animals and fantastical creatures to local and national celebrities. This year’s theme, “Back to the FOOLture,” features retro- and futuristic-themed puppets made by U-M students and community volunteers. With appearances by The Detroit Party Marching Band collective and The Buckettes, a ragtag group that plays on buckets and other nontraditional instruments.
