Parking Lots & Structures

Public parking meters cost $2.40/hour and are enforced Mon.–Sat., 8 a.m.–6 p.m. (except city holidays).

City-owned and Downtown Development Authority (DDA)-managed parking facilities are marked by white signs with a green letter P (lots) or blue signs with a white P (structures). A private company, PCI Municipal Services (734–761–7235), operates the system. About 50 downtown businesses validate customers’ parking. The hourly parking lot rate is $2.50/hour. The hourly parking structure rate is $1.65/hour. Operating hours vary. The Library Lane structure has a capped charge of $5 between 3 p.m. and 6 a.m. on weeknights and all day Sat. The 415 W. Washington lot has a flat rate fee of $5 all day Mon.–Sat. All city parking is free on Sunday.

Parking permits allow 24-hour access to specific lots and structures. The cost of a monthly permit at the Fourth & William, Ann & Ashley, 1st and Washington, Library Lane, Forest, Maynard, and Liberty Square structures is $245/month. Reserved spaces are available at some locations for either $340/month. Limited/Overnight permits are available at some locations for $40/month and allow access from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Permits are issued first come, first served; call the Downtown Development Authority at (734) 997–1310 to inquire about availability.

Motorcycles and scooters park free in 7 designated downtown structures and lots, including the Fourth & William, Maynard, Forest, and Ann & Ashley structures. See map at a2dda.org/getting-around/drive.

Electric vehicle charging stations are available at 7 downtown parking structures: Forest Ave.; Maynard St.; Fourth Ave. and William St.; Ann and Ashley St.; Fourth St. and Washington St.; Liberty Sq.; and Library Lane. For availability and charging rates, visit na.chargepoint.com/charge_point.

Parking Violations

The fine for an expired city meter is $15 if paid before the end of the next business day, $25 after one day, $60 after 14 days, and $70 after 30 days. The initial fine for unauthorized parking in a disabled parking space or for violating city snow-removal parking restrictions is $115 if paid before the end of the next business day, $125 after one day, $145 after 14 days, and $165 after 30 days. Fines for most other parking violations are $25–$55 if paid within 14 days. All fines increase after 14 and 30 days. Other penalties may include default fees or impoundment charges if your vehicle is towed.

Parking tickets can be paid in 5 ways: online at annarbor.citationportal.com (credit card fee of $3.50 per ticket); by phone at (855) 604–7734 (same fee as online); in person at the Customer Service Center, City Hall, 301 E. Huron St., weekdays 7 a.m.–5 p.m.; at drop boxes inside City Hall (301 E. Huron St.; box is at the north/Ann St. entrance) or across from City Hall at 300 E. Ann and S. Fifth Ave. intersection (drive-by 24-hour access); or by mail, addressed to City of Ann Arbor Customer Service Center, PO Box 8647, Ann Arbor, MI 48107 (check or money order only). Postmarks are accepted as evidence of timely payment.

Street Parking

Rates at the 1,500 metered curbside spaces in the downtown and campus area are $2.50/hour. Meters are enforced Mon.–Sat. 8 a.m.–6 p.m. After parking, note your space number. Payment can be made at any ePark pay station with credit card or coin. Payment can also be made using the free ePark mobile app.

For $30/day, PCI Municipal Services can reserve street parking spaces for private occasions such as weddings (call 734–761–7235). Businesses may also temporarily reserve spaces for construction access or other needs.
