Zal Gaz Grotto: Easy Street Jazz Band
Early jazz classics from Scott Joplin and Bessie Smith to Louis Armstrong and beyond by this veteran local septet led by trombonist Terry Kimura.
Ziggy’s: Possum Belly
Detroit-based grungy hard rock band with dusty Americana undertones. Openers: the Detroit blues-rock and southern-rock band Armada Lodge and the Livonia alt-rock band Blind Season. Followed by stand-up comedy sets by local comics Alex Bradley, Skippy Rose, Zach Pearlman, and Julianna Loera Wiggins.
Ark: Fink
Sparse, pulsating folk-rock soaked in 70s nostalgia by this English band led by singer-songwriter, and former dance music DJ, Fin Greenall. “The sound here is rooted in folk, but buoyed by Greenhall’s upbringing in dance and electronic music always grooves and pulses,” writes Under the Radar in a review of his brand-new album The City is Coming to Erase It All. “The feeling pervades that the listener could just as easily be at a downtempo and deeply atmospheric dance party as a folk club.” $35.
