Our summer CLUSTER Film Series features animated film shorts exploring the fertile contrast between the optical and the tactile, between surface and depth, using animated paper, textiles, and free-hand line drawings.
Curated by Jon Moodie. Experimental in nature, the films are all stop motion animation based in unusual materials: textiles, paper (cut-outs and folding), letterpress and hand printing, and simple freehand line drawings.
Notable animators include Jodie Mack, Isolda Milenkovic, Yanqi Liang, and Lysander Wong, among others. Marketing image from Bergamot by Yanqi Liang.
