Join our monthly A²ZERO clothing swaps on the third Thursday of each month! Swaps are an opportunity to refresh your wardrobe, without buying new. Swaps are also a chance to gift your gently used clothes to members of your community, without contributing to the 92 million tons of textile waste generated globally each year. These are completely free events (workshops included!).
How it works: Each person can bring up to 10 items of clothing in good condition (no rips, holes, stains or unwashed items please unless you plan to bring them to the mending workshop!). Accessories such as bags, jewelry, and belts are also welcome. You can take clothing without bringing anything, or bring clothing without taking anything.
Skill Building Workshop:
Mending with All Hands Active will be available, and participants can bring items with minor flaws to be mended and either swapped or kept.

Serotonergic psychedelics (e.g., psilocybin, DMT, LSD), primarily known for their mind-altering properties, have garnered widespread attention for their potential to treat an array of physical and mental health conditions. However, they are also known to increase wakefulness in animal models and produce a neurophysiological profile opposite to that seen during general anesthesia. This is clinically relevant given there is a lack of a pharmacological agent to reverse general anesthesia.
Therefore, we tested whether the serotonergic psychedelic 2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodoamphetamine (DOI) could induce behavioral arousal and restore brain dynamics associated with wakefulness during general anesthesia.
In this talk, Emma Huels, PhD, will provide the first evidence that DOI can reverse general anesthesia and restore wake-like brain dynamics during propofol or isoflurane anesthesia, and this reversal is mediated by 5-HT2A receptor activation. Importantly, this effect was not blocked by inactivation of cortical sites known to be rich in 5-HT2A receptors, prompting a re-evaluation of the role of the cortex in states of consciousness.

U-M students and local actors perform an alfresco production of one of Shakespeare’s lesser-known comedies, a sophisticated, at times delightfully impish, and finally somewhat dark treatment of the battle of the sexes. The king of Navarre and 3 of his lords vow to deny themselves worldly pleasures, including women, and devote themselves to academic study. But when the princess of France and her 3 ladies arrive at the king’s court, these solemn oaths become vague memories, and each of the young lords begins secretly to woo one of the young ladies, indulging in revels, masques, and outrageous sonnets. The RC’s annual Shakespeare in the Arb production is a hugely popular local summer tradition. The action moves from spot to spot within the Arb, and the production takes special care to make the shifting environments an active force in the performance. Audience members should be prepared for the weather conditions and periods of sitting, standing, & walking and bring a lightweight chair or blanket to sit on.
