Radio Free Bacon is back for its third season–in a new, far roomier home. For its first two seasons, the locally produced weekly live radio variety show was broadcast from the patio at Zingerman’s Roadhouse, first by webcast then on Ann Arbor’s 107.1 FM. Starting today, September 6, at 3 p.m., the cast and crew plan to perform at the landmark West Park band shell every Sunday for six weeks.
“It was so much fun at Zingerman’s,” says Terry Farmer, who hosts the show with Rob Reinhart, “but we want to have more people come! We have a five-piece band with sometimes a Hammond organ and two hosts and a sound crew and guests.” For neighbors worried about noise, Reinhart promises the show’s expert soundman will “custom tailor the sound so this shouldn’t be a disturbance to anyone.” Though the MC5 and the Stooges played the band shell a lifetime ago, Reinhart emphasizes, “We’re not presenting Ann Arbor’s newest death metal band.”
