Jayce Ogren directs this music student ensemble in a program highlighted by Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 (“Pathétique”), which combines melodic beauty, Romantic harmonies, deep passion, and beguiling dance rhythms. Also, Ravel’s Pavane for a Dead Princess and a performance of contemporary American composer Jake Heggie’s settings of Margaret Atwood poems, Songs for Murdered Sisters, featuring U-M concerto competition–winning baritone soloist Joshua Hopkins.
