“Third Thursdays at the Library”: U-M Library
Monthly open house featuring rotating highlights from the library’s Special Collections Research Center, maps from the Clark Library, and items from other collections. Today’s theme, “A Few of Our Favorite Things,” features displays of various staff favorites. Curators on hand to answer questions. 6th fl.: Early 20th-century marionette production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, hand-colored plates of early 19th-century Paris, vintage Betty Crocker advertisements, pop-ups from Michigan paper engineer Robert Sabuda, and other items. 2nd fl.: Atlases, panoramas, maps, and globes with unusual backstories. 1st fl.: Various items from around the globe, including ancient Peruvian textiles, Jewish holiday cards, historical postcards from the Philippines, and Russian theater costumes. 4–6 p.m., Hatcher Library, enter from the Diag.
