“Multiverse: Converging Worlds”: U-M Symphony Band
Jason Fettig leads this music student ensemble in a program highlighted by U-M composition alum Clarice Assad’s Multiverse, a new piece for winds which reimagines the primitive ritual story at the heart of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. Also, Shostakovich’s Prelude in E-flat minor, Stravinsky’s Fireworks, and a performance of contemporary American composer Joel Love’s powerful yet elegant Solace: A Lyric Concerto featuring saxophone soloist Leo Schlaifer. Preceded at 7:15 p.m. by a brief talk. 8 p.m., Hill Auditorium. Free. (734) 615–3204.
