Jason Mingjie Xu: Society for Musical Arts
Chinese Canadian saxophonist Xu, a U-M music student who won the 2025 SMA young artist competition, performs “Air de La Fleur” from Bizet’s Carmen, Gang Chen’s “Sunshine Over Tashkurgan,” ballades by Henri Tomasi and Frank Martin, and more. In 2025 he also became the first saxophonist to win the prestigious Canadian Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal (OSM) Competition.
