“Freak Fest 3”: Ziggy’s. Oct. 3-5 (different times & locations). Three-day showcase of area bands that also includes Friday & Saturday night shows at Ziggy’s (see Nightspots). Today: The Ypsilanti experimental drum ’n’ bass one-man-band Laserbeams of Boredom (5 p.m.), the Detroit artsy pop-rock Americana band Izak (5:30 p.m.), the Ypsilanti DIY emo-punk band Modus Operandi (6:30 p.m.), the Ypsilanti experimental stoner rock trio Cattywampus (7:15 p.m.), the Ypsilanti synth-rock band Saga (8 p.m.), the Detroit avant-pop ensemble C.A.D. & the Peacetime Consumers (8:45 p.m.), and the Detroit psychedelic art-rock trio Sonic Smut (9:30 p.m.). Today’s schedule also includes a multiband show at Ziggy’s (see Nightspots). 5-10 p.m., S. Washington between the Wyrd Byrd record store and the Tap Room, Ypsilanti.
