“Death of a Driver”: Theatre Nova

Every Thurs.–Sun., May 17–June 9. Shelby Seeley directs the Michigan premiere of Will Snider’s 2019 two-character drama about an American engineer and a Kenyan taxi driver who strike up a friendship and embark on a project to change rural Kenya. When circumstances in the region become tense, the integrity of their alliance comes into question. The play examines the limits of good works and of interpersonal understanding. A Splash Magazine reviewer called it “smart and thought-provoking, yet uneven” as well as “a gripping, captivating night in the theater.” 8 p.m. (Thurs.–Sat.) & 2 p.m. (Sun.), Theatre Nova, 410 W. Huron St. At Thursday performances, the audience is required to be masked. Tickets $28 (kids under 17, $10) in advance at theatre-nova.ticketleap.com and (if available) at the door. (734) 635–8450.
