This “is the mural on The Standard, the new apartment building on Main Street between Packard and William,” writes Pamela Kittel. It’s “on Packard just east of Main,” specifies Amy Barnett. “I recently took a photo of it to go in my personal album of the beautiful downtown murals.”
It “was painted by Mike Ross … [who] states that he works ‘heavily with color and pattern, painting largely abstract work … [using] eye catching but subtle color combos,’” shares Dave Karl. It’s “much better in color!” adds Barnett.
“Raise your standard” is the motto of this complex, which says it “raises the standard of college living experiences.” A range of floor plans from studios to four-bedrooms are available along with an app for roommate matching. More like a resort than a dormitory, the building hosts retail space on the first floor, common study areas, outdoor decks with grills and a spa-like pool, game and exercise rooms, bike storage, and an electric car share. “All I can say is wow,” writes Karl after perusing the website.
“Times have changed from when I was in college struggling with my drafty bedroom windows and subsisting on Ramen noodles. Ah, Ramen noodles,” he concludes. “Brings back memories.”
We received nine correct entries in November. Kittel won our random drawing and will enjoy her $25 gift certificate at Zingerman’s.
