“I spy an egret, located in Gallup Park,” write both Bryan Magnuson and Lisa Pasbjerg. “The photo is of the Guardians of the Huron River sculpture,” says Marilyn Knepp. “It is a graceful sculpture along the Huron River,” observes Cathy Chow. “Gorgeous,” remarks Shannon Kohlitz, adding, “Do I get bonus points if I note that the Question Corner also features a question about the sculpture?” You and two others! Dave Bicknell and Mary Adams highlighted the same.

“Located on the northwest bank … near the new wooden vehicle and pedestrian bridge,” this “ten-foot tall corten steel sculpture … is the creation of Gavin and Kelley Brodin of Los Angeles,” says Barb Tester. “They are known for their large-scale works that merge art, architecture, and storytelling,” writes David Karl, and the abstract egret “serves as a reminder of the fragile balance between human activity and the ecosystems that sustain life.” It’s “based on an egret,” comments Bicknell, “but I think I’ll pretend it’s one of the swans that Gallup Park is known for.”

Jan Gombert notes, “I run in Gallup Park almost every day, and this image clearly jumped out to me!” “To quibble with the hint” referencing 2024, writes Eric Sobocinski, “the sculpture itself is 2025, no?” Yes—it was installed in November 2025. 2024 referenced the city’s nationwide call for art that initiated the project.
