“This month’s I Spy is an imposing building on N. Fourth Ave. that was called the ‘City Building,’” writes Ken Koral. Built in 1893, it “housed city offices until city hall opened,” in 1907, shares Dyke McEwen. It’s “the top of the building between Motte & Bailey Booksellers at 212 N. Fourth and Encore Records at 208 N. Fourth,” specifies Dave Bicknell.

“I’ve probably walked by that building hundreds of times, but never really noticed the stonework,” says Dan Romanchik. “This made me appreciate the variety of arches which can be found in the city,” Rudi Hauleitner writes.
Our random drawing winner, Dave Corsa, “was a coordinator at the original Fourth Ave. People’s Food Co-op in this location.” Motte & Bailey Booksellers have called 212 N. Fourth home since 2006, and Encore Records moved to 208 in 2019.
We received 17 correct entries; Corsa will decide where he wants his $25 gift certificate when he returns from his trip to Portugal. Our apologies to last month’s winner, KC Bemish, for misspelling their name! To enter this month’s contest, use the image and clue below and send your answer to the address above.
