Do we need some fun, or what?
The WCDP Events team has gone all out to bring Ypsi businesses together to partner with us to give families a memorable afternoon at the historic Ypsilanti Freighthouse in Depot Town. Partners include Aubree’s Pizza and Grill, Sidetrack Bar and Grill, and Ypsilanti Food Co-Op, who will provide treats; local artist Amy Balzer-Pemberton, of Clever Creations by Amy, who will do creative activities for kiddos; Sophia and El Kronox will perform and coach in Argentine dance, and will help kiddos make balloon animals; and DJ Nitro, who will bring the music and will emcee. Elected officials are being invited to let down their hair with us and dance! (or not) Come costumed, or as you are, for a fun family event hosted by the WCDP.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of nature, while soaking in the calming, transformative sounds of Crystal singing bowls. Come together in community for a truly unforgettable experience.
Bundle dyeing is the perfect way to start your dye journey and is a simple form of eco-printing. We will be using an array of natural dyestuffs by arranging and rolling botanicals within a 100% silk scarf and then placing it above hot steam. The naturally-occurring pigments within the plants will bind to the textile and create gorgeous dyes and patterns. While our scarves are steaming, we will enjoy a meditative experience, being immersed in the soothing sounds of Crystal singing bowls and tuning forks, enveloping us in calming vibrations and promoting relaxation as sound waves resonate throughout the space around us and within us.

We are pleased to invite young pianists to participate in Halloween Hoot, a fun and friendly students piano recital to be held on October 19th and 26th at the Faber Piano Institute.
Students are welcome to perform a piece of their choice—memorization is optional. In the spirit of the season, costumes are warmly encouraged to help make the event festive and enjoyable for all.
The participation fee is $20 for Ann Arbor piano teachers guild members and $40 for non-members.

A rowdy affair, this annual tradition features the University Symphony Orchestra and the University Philharmonia Orchestra hamming it up in costume while performing such ghoulish works as Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre or Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain. Imani Winds & Andy Akiho: University Musical Society

Performing both separately and together, Imani Winds, a veteran NYC-based wind quintet known for its adventurous programming, appears with five-time Grammy-nominated composer-percussionist Akiho. The program includes Akiho’s “BeLoud, BeLoved, BeLonging,” a new work inspired by the protests of immigrants at a Brooklyn detention center over unsanitary conditions and lack of heat.
