Longtime real estate agent Laurie Buys, a former flight attendant originally from Seattle, was a big fan of the Eve and Annie Boutique, which recently closed its storefront to focus online. She plans to open Downtown Chic Boutique there in November. “I kind of pounced on the idea of, ‘I can do this,’” she says.
The butterfly-themed space is “very feminine and it’s really pretty,” Buys says. She promises quality, contemporary women’s fashion appealing to a variety of ages and styles, from loungewear to cocktail dresses. She figures that being open Wednesday through Sunday will well serve both local customers and increasing traffic from destination visitors.
“I feel this really cool swelling of growth in Dexter because I’m in real estate, and I just feel like I really want to be a part of it,” she says. “I’m super excited about it.”
