Next to the Jungle House cannabis dispensary on S. Ashley, Sublime Shrooms opened in January with an evocative upstairs store that builds on what was previously just a delivery service for entheogens. Neon signage, black lights, and psychedelic art accent the deep-toned walls of purple, blue, and green.

General manager James Huffman says the ownership prefers to remain anonymous given the industry’s tenuous legal status, but the former cannabis dispensary manager believes mushrooms have expansion potential. “I think it could be bigger and better than the cannabis industry,” he says.

Product lines include dried mushrooms, drinks and mixes, microdose capsules, chocolate bars, gummies, tea, and—for those aiming to grow their own—spore syringes. DMT vapes provide a shorter-acting hallucinatory trip—a seven- to fifteen-minute “out-of-body experience,” Huffman says.

Beyond the recreational aspect, he’s seen that functional mushroom products have “gotten people off heavy drugs, medication. Seeing this change lives and being able to be a part of it is super cool.”

On the ground floor, Jungle House and Sublime Shrooms are collaborating on programming for the Ashley Street Social Club, a lounge for open mic nights, comedians, DJs, and other community events.
