In February, brothers George and Alex Rouche opened the Shawarma Shop next to the Shell station at State and Eisenhower (Marketplace Changes, March).
At the time, George said it was the fulfillment of a longtime dream to own a restaurant. But then he was lured back to the Hotel Jackson in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he’d been executive chef before the pandemic.
The brothers have sold their Middle Eastern restaurant to Bilal Choukeir of Westland, whose longtime dream also has been to own his own place, says his wife, Jenny. Alex says he plans to stay on to help the new owners.
