“Top of the Park”: Ann Arbor Summer Festival
See 13 Friday. Tonight in the KidZone: chalk drawing with popular local street artist David Zinn (5 p.m.), and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital offers Build-A-Brain: Hands-On Learning About Speech and Language (4 p.m.). In the Annex Tent: Bicycle Repairs by Common Cycle staff (5 p.m.). On the Power Center Lawn: Taekwondo (5:30 p.m.) with Omega Martial Arts Saline staff. On the O&W Grove Stage: dinosaur-themed kiddie pop songs by singer-songwriter-pianist Kara Kaufmann (4 p.m.) and the local alt-country quartet the Minor Pieces (5:15 p.m.). On the Rackham Stage: Kids music by Little Miss Ann (6:15 p.m.), and Jess Merritt (8 p.m.), a soulful-voiced local singer-songwriter whose music draws on jazz, classical, pop, and R&B idioms to sustain lyrical journeys of self-discovery. Also, 30-minute family-friendly shows at 4:45 & 7:15 p.m. by the Kif-Kif Sisters (see 14 Saturday listing). The music is followed at 9:30 p.m. by a screening of Toy Story, the 1995 Disney animated adventure about a group of talking toys. 4–11 p.m.
