“Third Thursdays at the Library”: U-M Library
Monthly open house featuring rotating highlights from the library’s Special Collection Research Center, maps from the Clark Library, and items from other collections. Curators on hand to answer questions. Light refreshments. Today on the 1st fl.: “Jews in Latin America and the Caribbean.” Display of books that highlight the vibrant and diverse history of Jewish diasporic communities. Followed at 6 p.m. by a screening of A Taxi Driver, Jang Hoon’s 2017 historical drama about a Korean taxi driver who accidentally becomes involved in the 1981 Gwangju political uprising. Today on the 4th fl.: “Go for the Gold! Olympic Cities Around the World.” Display of maps of Olympic host cities at the time of their respective games. Today on the 6th fl.: “Voices of Dissent: Protests Against Richard Nixon.” Display of items and narratives from the library’s Labadie Collection that illuminates anti-war movement and other activism during the Nixon presidency. 4–6 p.m., Hatcher Library, enter from the Diag.
