Disability Day of Mourning: Autistic Self Advocacy Network

The Disability Day of Mourning will take place Saturday, March 1, at 1 pm on the grounds of King of Kings Lutheran Church, 2685 Packard Street in Ann Arbor. Every year, the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) joins with other disability organizations to promote this event, a remembrance of disabled murder victims. Each year hundreds of disabled persons are murdered, most often by family members (filicide) or caregivers. At the remembrance, the names of the victims will be read aloud. All are welcome to participate, either by joining in the reading of names or listening as the names of those who died are read. The observation will move indoors in the event of bad weather.
