“Gloria”: U-M Theatre Department
Sept. 25–28 & Oct. 2–5. Judith Moreland directs drama students in award-winning African American playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ 2015 comedy-drama about a group of low-level employees at a glitzy Manhattan magazine competing to succeed in a publishing industry where opportunities for traditional writers and editors are increasingly rare. New York Times theater critic Ben Brantley calls the play a “whip-smart satire of fear and loathing in a beleaguered industry under siege.” Recommended for ages 16 & older. 7:30 p.m. (Thurs.), 8 p.m. (Fri. & Sat.), & 2 p.m. (Sun.), Arthur Miller Theatre, 1226 Murfin, North Campus. Tickets $35 (students, $16) in advance at tickets.smtd.umich.edu & at the door. (734) 764–0583.
