“A New Birth of Freedom”: U-M Symphony Band

Jason Fettig and guest conductors lead this music student ensemble in a concert of works by Black composers, including Florence Price’s Dances in the Canebrakes, Adolphus Hailstork’s American Guernica, George Walker’s Lyric, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Ballade, Randol Alan Bass’s A New Birth of Freedom, and Quinn Mason’s Sonorous Trombone Concerto featuring U-M trombone professor David Jackson.  Preceded at 7:15 p.m. by a brief talk. 8 p.m., Hill Auditorium.
