28th Annual Ann Arbor African American Downtown Festival
An all-ages celebration of the contributions of Black Ann Arbor business leaders, held in Ann Arbor’s historic Black business district. Featuring vendors of food, art, beauty products, and collectibles by local Black businesses. Kids activities (11 a.m.-5 p.m.) include crafts from the Hands-On Museum, giant games from the AADL, an exotic animal mobile zoo (noon–1:30 p.m.), bounce houses, balloon animals, face painting, a chance to play cornhole, and cotton candy making. On the main stage, gospel singers Anthony McKinney (10 a.m.) and Devon Walls (10:30 a.m.), a dance performance by Biza Sompa and the Bichini Bia Congo Dance Theater (11 a.m.), the Willis Patterson Our Own Thing Chorale (11:30 a.m.), Arbor Preparatory High School Band (noon), Labor of Love Choir (12:35 p.m.), the Hoaloha Polynesian Dance Group (1 p.m.), jazz and soul music by the Ashley Boyles Experience (1:40 p.m.), R&B and soul music by Nani Wesley (2 p.m.), dance by Studio Detroit and RML Entertainment (2:30 p.m.), Detroit R&B and soul by the Alise King Experience (3:10 p.m.) and the Melvin Chisholm & Clockwork Band (3:30 p.m.), line dancing from the Sharp Steppers (4:15 p.m.), and a festival headliner TBA (6:05 p.m.). 9 a.m.–8 p.m., N.
